Consumer direct services

Individuals with disabilities can get Personal Care Attendance (PCA) services through Consumer Direct Services (CDS), a Medicaid-funded program that allows participants to live independently in the comfort of their own home and is free for qualified particular.

 

CDS REQUIREMENTS:

1.

Participant must be mentally fit to direct their own care (ie: no dementia or Alzheimer’s)

 

2.

Must use an outside attendant (spouses do not qualify as an attendant)

 

3.

Select, hire, fire, train and supervise the attendant

 

4.

Check time-sheets of the attendant for accuracy

 

5.

 Ensure units of service delivered do not exceed those authorized

 

6.

Attendants are required to be registered, screened and employable pursuant to the Family Care Safety Registry, Employee Disqualification List and applicable state laws and regulations
